The best months to visit Koh Chang Island are December to March. The mean maximum temperature in April, the hottest month, is almost 34 ºC; the mean minimum in the coldest months of December and January is 22 ºC.

Rainfall is heavy on Koh Chang Island and averages to nearly 3,200 millimetres a year. The wettest month is August with almost a 690 millimetre average while there is virtually no precipitation in December.

The monsoon season kicks in around July and lasts until October with temperatures slowly declining to their lowest level in December. During this period, the sea is rough and swimming is not recommended. Most of the smaller resorts on Koh Chang Island will close down due to a lack of customers.
